Stanbic Bank Uganda Unveils Regional Winners for the 2018 National School Championship

Stanbic Bank Uganda on Friday unveiled the 2018 regional winners of the Stanbic National Schools Championship after a debate competition which involved four schools in each region contesting for the regional title.

For those that might be unaware, the Nation School Championship is an annual competition that aims to encourage and challenge students from various secondary schools countrywide in critical thinking and provide exposure to vast knowledge beyond their classrooms.

Last year, at the banks first annual championship which was launched in partnership with teh Ministry of Education and Sports in Uganda, crowned MaryHill High School as the overall winners. The team of two; Arinda Tracy, and Mugisha Evelyne received a fully paid educational trip to South Africa while the school received a solar system which is worth 20 Million UGX.

However, this year’s regional winners were;  Muni Girls Secondary School (North), Nakanyonyi Girls’ Secondary School (East), Mengo Senior School (Central), and Bweranyangi Girls’ Senior Secondary School (West).

Stanbic Bank Uganda will be hosting a business training boot camp for the finalists which will equip the students with business planning, marketing and the management skills they will need to succeed in the real world. This will be the first group to under go this stage.

Congratulating the schools upon their great success, Barbara Kasekende, Stanbic Bank CSI Manager at a media press briefing said, the Stanbic National Schools competition journey has been challenging for the students but fruitful at the same time.

“I am more than excited for the schools that have made it this far and cannot wait to see what more these brilliant students have to offer,” she said.

The final stage of the competition, will see the finalists tasked to develop and execute their business plans in their respective schools. The school that presents the best executed plan at the finals to be held on 5th July 2018 at Hotel Africana in Kampala, Uganda will be crowned 2018 Stanbic National Schools Champions.

Awards

For the teachers
Having promised more changes in the challenge, the bank will be rewarding the participating teachers for only the winning teams. For the grand winner, their teacher will be given 1.5 million UGX. The 1st, 2nd, and 3rd runners up will receive, 1.2 million, 800,000, and 500,000 UGX respectively.
