The iamtheCODE and Booking.com Hackathon to Address Sustainable Development Goals in Uganda

Netherlands-based travel fare aggregator and booking service firm; Booking.com in collaboration with STEAMD firm; iamtheCODE are seeking to recruit top developers (**Females emphasized a lot) through a Hackathon that will held from 23rd to 24th November, 2017 that will be addressing the sustainable development goals in Uganda. The hackathon is in partnership with IamtheCODE UK, and tech-incubation hub Hive Colab as the country partner.

“We’re looking for the brightest talents in back-end, front-end, full-stack and product to put their heads together and hack on our Booking.comAPI with the aim of creating multi-functional teams, working together as an actual product team,”Booking.com said in a press statement.

The challenge is to ensure that developers use their programming and designing skills, along with creative thinking, to develop a process to decode the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals, in this instance (Sustainable Tourism). Developers will work with technology stack and devices of their choice: mobile, web, plugins, wearable, applications, to mention a few.

Some of the best innovation comes from integrating multiple services to create something new, radical and creative that solves a problem for travelers. Think about how transport, activities, events, social media and other devices can be combined to help improve sustainable tourism. The Booking.comAPI will give developers access to over one million properties ranging from hotels to homes to castles, and everything in between.

Interested applicants with a Bachelor degree in Computer science or related, Software Engineer, coder, Front-end designer with Angular JS, React and related front-end tools, and a minimum 2 year experience can apply for the challenge by sending in their CVs and portfolio to hr@chowberry.com.

Notably, there will be an opportunity for those that would be interested in working for both iamtheCODE and Booking.com in their Amsterdam Head Quarters, their team will be happy to speak to you about the roles they have available – full relocation will be provided if selected for a position.
