KLM Royal Dutch Airlines is now offering its customers around the world booking confirmation, check-in notification, boarding pass, flight status updates, and asking questions in 10 different languages on WhatsApp via now their official WhatsApp Business application – becoming one of the first companies and the very first airline globally with a verified WhatsApp business account.
“I am very proud that KLM is the world’s first airline with a verified WhatsApp account. This unique partnership with WhatsApp underlines our position as an aviation pioneer. We want to be where our customers enterprise solution that makes it possible for businesses like KLM to connect with their customers in a fast and personal way on WhatsApp,” KLM President & CEO Pieter Elbers said in a press statement.
Together with a small number of businesses, WhatsApp is still carrying out its pilot program with limited business – testing ways for how they could communicate with their customers using the messaging platform, creating value for both customers and the businesses they connect with in their daily lives.
Business WhatsApp accounts that have been verified have a green badge next to a contact’s name – meaning that the Facebook-owned social platform has confirmed that the phone number of this contact belongs to a business account.
When chatting with a verified business account via the platform, you will only receive yellow messages inside a chat and there is no way to delete these messages from the chat. And Yes! you messages are end-to-end encrypted. Therefore, secure messages are secure so that they can only be read by the customer and KLM.
