The annual Gamescom conference was more important this year than most, because both Sony and Microsoft used the show to announce their full lineup of video game titles that will be available for their respective next-generation consoles at launch. Microsoft was first to unveil its Xbox One launch lineup, which included a number of anticipated games such as “Call of Duty: Ghosts,” “Madden NFL 25″ and “Dead Rising 3.” Following Microsoft’s announcement, Sony took the wraps off of its PlayStation 4 launch lineup, which included 33 titles compared to Microsoft’s 23 games. Eighteen PS4 launch titles will be available only as downloadable games, while the remaining 15 will be sold on physical media in stores or as downloads from Sony’s console.
