iPad sales decline for the first time

iPadApple announced that it sold 14.6 million iPads in the quarter ending June 30, 2013, representing a 14% decrease compared to the same period in 2012. This is the first time since the iPad’s 2010 launch that the sales of the device have fallen.

The star of the tablet world seems to be facing tougher competition lately, especially from its increasingly popular Android rivals. Gartner predicts that Android devices could account for up to 42% of tablet sales in 2014, compared to 22% in 2012, taking a sizeable bite of Apple’s market share.
