Participants en route to the anticipated Tusker Lite Rwenzori Marathon 2025 in Kasese will travel in Kiira Motor’s electric buses from Kampala to the Rwenzoris, each fitted with MTN’s high-speed onboard Wi-Fi. In a first-of-its-kind partnership, MTN Uganda teamed up with Kiira Motors Corporation to power a greener, smarter, and more connected journey.

“The Tusker Lite Rwenzori Marathon is the perfect stage to showcase Uganda’s innovation in sustainable mobility. With our Kayoola electric buses and MTN’s seamless connectivity, we are proving that a greener, smarter future is possible today,” said Paul Isaac Musaasizi, CEO of Kiira Motors Corporation.

The electric fleet, one Kayoola E-Coach and two Kayoola EVS buses, will be supported by newly installed DC fast chargers at new Charging Stations in Mubende and Kasese. On board, travelers will enjoy MTN high-speed Wi-Fi powered by countrywide LTE coverage from robust high-performance routers capable of connecting up to 100 devices simultaneously.

“At MTN, we believe connectivity has the power to transform experiences. By powering Kiira’s electric buses with our fastest 4G internet, we are ensuring that every traveler to the Rwenzori Marathon enjoys a world-class digital experience on the move,” said Nicholas Mpanga, MTN Uganda’s Senior Consultant for Managed Network Solutions.

Kiira Motors, as the official e-Mobility Partner, reinforces the event’s sustainability agenda while showcasing Uganda’s leadership in clean transport solutions. With its electric buses demonstrating homegrown innovation and powered by MTN Uganda’s fastest internet, the journey to the Rwenzori will not only embody eco-friendly progress but also deliver an inspiring experience that mirrors the spirit of the marathon itself.

Travel to Kasese for the marathon has been simplified, with three buses departing from Forest Mall, Kampala, on the morning of August 22 to Shell, Kasese. On marathon day, participants will be shuttled from the parking area to the starting line at the Equator, after which the buses will remain on exhibition in Kasese before returning to Kampala the following day.
