In a Memorandum of Understanding signed between Uganda Registration Services Bureau (URSB) and the National Information Technology Authority Uganda (NITA-U) this afternoon, will see NITA-U provide URSB with an SMS gateway to improve their communication with clients in a faster, more responsive way.
URSB Registrar General, Mercy Kainobwisho welcomed the partnership with NITA-U saying they have had a longstanding relationship.
“URSB and NITA-U have been working together on different projects in the past. I am confident that the SMS gateway will enable the bureau have seamless and timely communication with clients and improve our accountability to the public.” she said.
“As you are aware, we receive and process big data from across our directorates of Business and Civil registration, SIMPO registry, Intellectual Property and Insolvency that needs safe and secure archiving. I believe NITA-U is best placed to provide this service,” explains Kainobwisho.
Dr. Hatwib Mugasa, NITA-U Executive Director commended URSB for being a progressive and forward thinking organization adding that it was vital for government institutions to work together in the delivery of services to the public.
“We are glad to see that one of the e-government services provided by NITA-U is going to be fully utilized by URSB. This service will cut costs of communication for URSB because our charges are 50% lower than the market rates. Clients will get real time notifications of the services accessed since middle men will be eliminated,” Mugasa explained.
URSB adopted new service delivery measures to comply with the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) as issued by the Ministry of Health for the prevention and control of spread of coronavirus. Through the “All Digital All Online” strategy, all services except conducting of civil weddings, certifications of legal documents and filing of particular resolutions are online.
