There’s a few days left to the 2021 Uganda’s general election and Ugandans need access to information on the elections. And with the pandemic, Covid-19 that has grown to be a huge problem, access to such information might be a problem to a lot of people who have been used to accessing information on ground and with the enforcement of SOPs by government it makes it harder.

Therefore, the Government Citizen’s Interaction Centre (GCIC) under the Ministry of ICT and National Guidance developed the Uchaguzi platform that has three digital assets – website (www.Uchaguzi.go.ug), app (iOS and Android) and a WhatsApp chatbot to ensure that there is interactivity and ease of access to information on electoral and voter education, as well as provide a civic education platform that will bridge the electoral knowledge gap.

You can use the app or website to locate your polling station to know where you are to cast your vote from on January 14th, 2021. The app as well as the website have a section called Voter Locator, which you can use to find information on where you are going to vote from. You’ll also find all the details of what you need as you head to your polling station.

On launching the app or website, select Voter Locator (appears in the how to vote section or below the home section). After selecting the locator, you will be promoted to enter your Voter Number or Application ID or National ID Number (NIN) to determine where to vote from. You can search for your voter location using either Voter Numbers OR Voter Details. The voter number is one that prompts you to enter your voter number or application ID or national ID number while voter details prompt you to enter your name, date of birth and district your registered in.

You will receive results from your locator showing where you are to cast your vote from. All this information is sourced from the Electoral Commission.
