Pixan Inc, a content production & distribution company has partnered with developers of Cash Chat, a Ugandan digital and social network mobile application, to launch the COVID-19 quarantine time mobile app innovation challenge.
With a winning sum of USD$2,000 (roughly UGX8 million) available for the winners, will see innovators self-quarantining develop solutions to help Ugandans recover from the economic distraught; coronavirus, COVID-19 that was declared a pandemic. In addition to cash prize, the winning apps will be pre-installed on the pixan phones.
COVID-19 has highly affected a number of business and industries, thereby, with this challenge should see innovators pitch solutions to help Ugandans recover from this crisis.
Mr. Edgar Ofoyuru, the Managing Director of Pixan Inc. revealed that they are looking for young individuals or groups that can develop mobile apps that provide solutions in the fields of Agriculture, Education, Finance and Healthcare.
“Coronavirus has presented us with challenges that we must address. This is why we’re calling on young minds observing quarantine to use their time to come up with digital solutions to life’s challenges during and after COVID-19,” said Ofoyuru.
In his remarks, Mr. Asher Namanya, developer of Cash Chat, said the challenge presents them with an opportunity to join Ugandans in the fight against coronavirus. And to offer solutions that are sustainable and make life easy to live.
“This Challenge should help us and the young developers use their skills and artistry to contribute to humanity by coming up with digital solutions that Ugandans can turn to, to sustain their lives during these hard times and during the recovery period. We want the innovators to come up with solutions that help users of their mobile apps go through an economic recovery effortlessly,” said Namanya.
The challenge that will run for 40 days, is limited to only Ugandans under the age of 30. Interested, submit their proposals and concept papers (covid19qc@pixaninc.com) for consideration between today, Wednesday 1st, April 2020 to Friday 10th, April 2020.
