The second annual Africa Blockchain Conference was a well put event by the Blockchain Association of Uganda and Crypto Savannah. The event graced hundreds of delegates to discuss on how Africa is preparing for the 4th Industrial Revolution (4IR).
Without getting much in details about the event, to mention — along the sidelines of the conference run activities such as; the Africa 4.0 Tech expo and the blockchain pitch competition.
The expo was an experiential journey showcasing the leading technology, innovations and applications in Africa. On the other hand, the pitch competition was held for innovators with a passion for developing sustainable digital solutions leveraging technologies in blockchain, big data, AI, robotics & drones — to solve pressing challenges across their communities.
From the call for applications only four emerged finalists — who were invited the Africa Blockchain Conference to present their solutions. The finalists were; Innovex, Pesa Base, Jaguza, and Maarifasasa.
The winners were announced on the second day of the conference with only three startups emerging as winners. Innovex emerged as the overall winner, Pesa Base and Jaguza coming in the 2nd and 3rd positions respectively.
The winners will share the UGX10M grant with Innovex taking UGX5M, Pesa Base UGX3M and Jaguza UGX2M.
