Makerere Innovator Alvin Kabwama Lands Training Deal With NASA

Ugandan Young innovator and founder of innovex, Alvin Leonard Kabwama has landed a training deal with the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) research centre in Silicon Valley, USA.

Kabwama, a graduate Electrical engineering from Makerere University will be joining researchers at Singularity University for a period of 8 weeks.

The youthful Kabwama is famous for a number of innovations in Uganda including a bomb detection robot, an automated disinfection chamber, and novel radiation-based urine diagnostic tests.

He, together with his colleagues at Makerere University’s iLabs, have been at the forefront of automation technology, developing and assembling devices ranging from drones among many others.

Their innovations have seen a development in Uganda’s automation, with some of their locally made drones used for live coverage by local televisions on hire.

Kabwama’s innovations have seen him scoop a number of local and international awards, ranging from recognition at UCC’s annual ACIA awards, East Africa robotics competition among others.

He has developed solutions for monitoring energy systems, custom-built drone and robotics applications, as well as medical diagnostic, monitoring and therapeutic systems.

While at NASA, Kabwama will get an opportunity to interact and rub shoulders with other world class innovators as well as share ideas with them to better his products back in Uganda.

About Alvin Kabwama
Kabwama is one of the co-founders at Innovex, and the Sales and Trainings Director.

He started programming from his high school days at St. Mary’s college Kisubi where he was exposed to robotics.

Kabwama trained robotics at Nakawa Vocational training Institute and Afrosoft IT consults.

He is a certified drone pilot.

He has held various positions in different technology projects through which he has immersed invaluable contact.
