iPhones Models That Will Be Eligible To Getting iOS 11 Later This Year

Cupertino-based tech firm, Apple Inc. last week unveiled the latest version of its mobile operating system dubbed the iOS 11 – at its Worldwide Developers Conference; which took place at the San Jose Convention Center in San Jose, California from June 5th to June 9th, 2017. The new OS is reportedly said to come with a slew of features as well as some cosmetic enhancements.

However, currently available as a developer preview, iOS 11 will be reaching eight eligible iPhone models later this year. And we give you the 8 iPhones that will be eligible for the iOS 11 update.

iPhone 5S
The iPhone 5s launched in 2013 is the oldest iPhone on this list to be eligible for iOS 11 update with its current iOS 7.

iPhone (6 and 6Plus), (6S and 6S Plus)
The iPhone 6-series including; iPhone (6 and 6Plus), (6S and 6S Plus) were launched in 2014 and 2015 respectively came with iOS 8 and iOS 9 respectively out of the box. The two pairs will also be receiving the update.

iPhone SE
In 2016, Apple launched the iPhone SE in addition to the iPhone 7 and the iPhone 7 Plus, it is powered by Apple’s A9 processor and runs on iOS 10. Thus, will receive the iOS 11 update sooner.

iPhone 7 and 7 Plus
Being the latest smartphone in the Cupertino-based tech giant’s line-up, the iPhone 7 will undoubtedly receive iOS 11 update. They phablets are powered by an Apple A10 Fusion CPU, and runs on iOS 10.[related-posts]

What’s new with the iOS 11

“iOS 11 sets a new standard for what is already the world’s most advanced mobile operating system. It makes iPhone better than before. It makes iPad more capable than ever. And now it opens up both to amazing possibilities for augmented reality in games and apps. With iOS 11, iPhone and iPad are the most powerful, personal, and intelligent devices they’ve ever been,” Apple writes on its website.

Unveiled by Apple at its WWDC 2017 keynote on 5 June, iOS 11 comes with big improvements over its iOS 10 predecessor. However, its still in the Beta version and is expected to come in September 2017 as a final release of the update to only eligible iPhones.

1. Redesigned App Store
One of the biggest iOS 11 updates is the redesigned App Store. Launching the app will first take you to the new Today tab, which is designed to help with app discovery. A second new tab for Games which is dedicated to discover both new and popular games, as well as in-app purchases for games you may already own which are available to view and download right there within the App Store, and Finally apps also gets its own, similarly designed tab for the rest of the content available on the App Store.

2. Control Center, Lock Screen and Notifications
Lock Screen and Notifications have now been combined into one screen, but more excitingly Control Center has been redesigned and is finally more customisable.

3. New Messages features
iOS 11’s Messages app has been updated with several new features including a new app drawer, which contains stickers, the new Apple Pay peer-to-peer feature that lets you pay contacts via iMessage, and lots more.

4. Siri improvements
Siri has a new, more natural male and female voice, as well as a new visual interface. Apple also added new features to Siri including the ability to translate what you say into German, French, Italian, Chinese or Spanish, with further languages being added soon. It also works better with Apple Music to help suggest songs you might like.

5. New Camera features
The new improvements include an improved image quality. Portrait Mode in the iPhone 7 Plus can be taken with Optical Image Stabilization.
