The National Information Technology Authority–Uganda (NITA-U) has today released an initial coverage hotspots for their #MYUG Free Wi-Fi internet service project for Kampala and Entebbe.
Earlier this month, NITA promised free WiFi within selected locations in the Kampala Central Business District and some areas of Entebbe starting 1st October, 2016.
According to the coverage map, the target has been public places with exception of residential ones like Bugolobi Flats; although NITA-U promises that additional residential areas will be covered using a phased approach.

NITA-U explained that access to the service will be offered between 6:00pm and 6:00am. so as to make use of internet bandwidth that is not being utilized by Government offices after official working hours. This initiative is to utilize the internet bandwidth to provide a free service to the Public.
The Executive Director of NITA-U, James Saaka also promised to provide the best Wi-Fi service for the upcoming Kampala City Carnival, and encouraged people to share their moment on all social media platforms.
