Chinease Telecommunications company Huawei and the African Telecommunication Union (ATU) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) aimed at enhancing ICT capability and literacy in Africa.
Huawei Kenya Country Manager Dean Yu said his firm will provide technical support to African states to increase their uptake of ICT.
Yu said that Huawei will use its resources to introduce the most innovative solutions to Africa saying that ICT can be used to improve the efficiency of all sectors of the economy.
Soumalia Abdoulkarim, the ATU Secretary General said that Huawei will help African states to develop and implement their national broadband strategies.
Broadband penetration in Africa is among the lowest in the world at approximately 10 percent, Abdoulkarim said.
