Apple is planning to release a new iPad mini with a Retina screen in the fourth quarter of 2013,The Wall Street Journal reports citing people familiar with the matter.
No other specifics about the device have been revealed, except that it may come in multiple colors and its screen size will “likely” be the same as that of the current 7.9-inch model.
As far as the new screen’s maker, Apple will probably go with Samsung, Sharp and LG, which should be enough to ensure a sufficient supply of screens.

The WSJ also recently reported that Apple is looking into launching a 13-inch iPad and an iPhone with a larger screen. There was no mention of a Retina iPad mini in that report, but WSJ‘s sources did say Apple will soon start producing a new iPad variant, with the same 9.7-inch screen size and resolution as the current model.
