SA business school claims world first free online business education

Regenesys Business School is claiming a world first: free, fully accredited, internationally recognised online business education for South Africans.

The courses are offered on a freemium model under which studying and access to training materials — from certification level, through to MBA level — are free. Submitting assignments or exams, and attending classes are optional paid features of the programme, but are required for qualification accreditation.

The following learning programmes are available:

  • Master of Business Administration
  • Postgraduate Diploma in Management
  • Bachelor of Business Administration
  • Higher Certificate in Business Management

Registering for Regenesys Free Business Education allows students free access to videos, study guides, eBooks, articles, Google Hangout, business tools, examples of assignments and exams, and more.

Partners for the Regenesys initiative include Pearson, Sunday Times, Internet Solutions, Human Resources Development Council of the South African government and the Department of Trade and Industry.

Brett Cousins, Director at Regenesys Business School, says the programme will “open the doors of learning for everyone, not only to people who plan to advance to executive levels, but also to entrepreneurs, school leavers and anyone who wants access to top quality business knowledge and tools from a reputable institution. This move allows students from anywhere in the world to study on their smartphone, tablet or PC, for free.”

DiaMatrix‘s eShop eCommerce platform will be used to allow the paid options of the programme while all learning materials remain free of charge and are available upon registration.

Regenesys goal is to educate one million people in the next three years.
