Orange Takes Internet to Universities

Orange Uganda last week announced two offers in which university students and staff will have a chance to purchase laptops/netbooks fully connected with internet at discounted prices. Following a partnership with Acer Computer Ltd, the company has unveiled two different offers of fully connected laptops that are bundled with different internet offers that will enable students and staff to purchase at very competitive prices.

Orange is the first operator to provide unrivalled value for students who are trying to have easy access to education, and pledged to continue to come up with different products and packages that suit the different customers.

The university offer is broken down as follows:

Offer 1:

The Acer Travelmate 4740Z laptop plus an Orange Internet Everywhere dongle which includes 3 GB for 6 months goes for only Ug. Shs. 1,499,000/= (About USD 625).

Offer2:

The Acer D255 Netbook plus Orange Internet Everywhere dongle which includes 500MB for 1 month goes for only Ug. Shs.799,000/= (About USD 330).

Orange has also gone ahead to engage Standard Chartered Bank to assist students that will need loan facilities for the same offer. This will enable the students to pay over a period of time.

The above offers have a 1 year manufacturer’s warranty on the computers. This offer is not only for students but is also open to the University Staff who just have to present a valid ID for identification purposes.

In a related development, Acer announced a partnership with iTech Solutions in which they will target to introduce a modern learning technologies into the Ugandan education system
