In a bid to helping people of Uganda learn ICT skills and develop the ICT Sector, Huawei during an event that was presided by the Minister of ICT and National Guidance Hon. Frank Tumwebaze at Rwamwanja Senior Secondary School in Nkoma Sub County late last month delivered 40 laptops fully connected to the internet to schools and district administrative offices in Kamwenge district.
Some of the beneficiaries of the laptop donation worth USD$20,000 (roughly 72.9 million UGX) included Bwizi Secondary School, Biguli Secondary School, Rwamwanja Secondary School, Bihanga Secondary and local government offices.
Hon. Frank Tumwebaze during the gave away event said, “I commend Huawei for your offer of 40 laptops under your Corporate Social Responsibility program, Government will continue to work with the Chinese government inform of getting grants, loans to finance roads and electricity.”
The Minister also called upon parents to make sure that their children excelled so that they can have a chance to go to China in the near future through the Seeds for the Future initiative by Huawei that was launched on April 25th, 2017 that aims at boosting and supporting Technology innovators in Uganda.[related-posts]
The Chinese Ambassador H.E. Zheng Zhuqiang who was also the Guest of Honor for the event said the ICT boost will not only help in knowledge transfer, but also give the basic hands-on skills for the students, that can be used to get jobs in secretarial bureaus in the district which will enable their welfare and families.
The Ambassador also urged the beneficiaries to embrace technology more because the digital has quickly set in.
Huawei’s Director of Government and Enterprise Business group Mr. Benny Bai pledged the company’s continuous innovations and knowledge transfer to Uganda through their Corporate Social Responsibility.[related-posts]
