At the highly anticipated Teknotel awards, Huawei collected two of the most coveted awards for its flagship, the P9 smartphone and Huawei Lady Watch. The annual awards ceremony was held in Dubai, United Arab Emirates at the Nassima Royal Hotel.
Jean Baguma, Marketing Manager Huawei Uganda Devices commenting on the achievement said it is great news for Huawei P9, on continuously winning international awards such as the TeknoTel 2016 Award.
The phablet adds it’s award to it’s recently won ‘European Consumer Smartphone 2016/17 Award by the European Image and Sound Association (EISA).
“This testifies Huawei’s commitment to creating new mobile innovations that offer new experiences to its users,” Jean said.
Jean notes winning both the TeknoTel Dual Lens Smartphone and the EISA Award by the Huawei P9 which is all about reinventing smartphone photography is the result of exhaustive developments and attention to detail from the world’s top industrial designers and their tireless efforts.
The TeknoTel Awards are presented every year and are open for the public to nominate and vote for the industry’s outstanding brands and products. The event runs in parallel to the GITEX Technology Week and recognizes the most innovative devices and companies across the various categories.

Huawei’s latest flagship device, the Huawei P9, won in the category of ‘Best Dual Lens Smartphone’ taking on competitors such as Apple and LG.
Since its introduction to the market in April 2016, the P9 dual-lens camera co-engineered with Leica Camera AG has received several accolades. The impressive performance features include a 12MP dual-lens rear camera, 8MP front selfie shooter and powerful 3000mAh battery.
In the wearable technology category, several devices were nominated including the Apple watch, the Tag Heuer Connected, and the Samsung gear S2. However, it was the Huawei Lady Watch that stole the spotlight with its elegant design and premium craftsmanship.
