UTL Not Affected By Sanctions

Kampala — Uganda Telecom Limited has not yet been affected by the United Nations resolutions that were adopted by member states on February 26, a senior official at the company said yesterday. “At UTL, operations continue and we want to assure our customers that it is business as usual,” said Mr Donald Nyakairu, the Chief Legal Counsel, yesterday.

Mr Nyakairu was reacting to a story in Saturday Monitor that uncertainty has hit the company following a decision by the UN Security Council members to freeze assets belonging to the Libyan government.

The Council also imposed an arms embargo on Libya, a travel ban and an asset freeze on Col Muammar Gaddafi, his family members and several government officials.
