Tecno Mobile Uganda turned its flagship store at Arena Mall, Nsambya, into an interactive showcase on Friday, inviting a cross-section of guests to test their devices. With the new Spark 40 series as the star attraction, the experiential event was more of a hands-on playground for the guests, which was a curated mix of chart-topping music artists, social media influencers with dedicated followings, charismatic Tecno brand ambassadors, media personalities, seasoned journalists, and technology enthusiasts. They all converged, creating a dynamic buzz and flowing between demo stations set up across the store.
The event’s core mission was to immerse this discerning audience in the world of Tecno, specifically the Spark 40 series. Devices were not locked away in displays but freely handed to guests, encouraging them to explore the features firsthand. The focus was on experience over explanation.
Providing expert context to the hands-on experience was Bruce Dickson, Product Consultant at Tecno Mobile Uganda. With palpable enthusiasm, Dickson took attendees through the Spark 40’s specifications and features, from camera capabilities and display responsiveness to battery endurance and software refinements, translating technical jargon into real-life benefits. He invited the guests to put those claims to the test at the hands-on booths.

Dickson highlighted Spark’s formidable 5,200mAh battery and its advanced 50MP AI Dual Flash camera, demonstrating its capability to capture crystal-clear images even in low-light conditions. These features particularly resonated with the content creators in the room, he emphasized. “For content creators in particular, the Spark 40’s blend of imaging tools and all-day battery life proved a practical advantage: the phones let vloggers and influencers shoot long-form clips, run live streams, and capture low-light portraits without constantly hunting for a charger,” he said.
Guests noted that the combination of reliable battery performance and intuitive camera modes removed friction from content workflows, turning what would normally be a full production day into a portable, one-person studio.
Tecno’s Brand Manager, Timmy Shen, offered brief remarks thanking guests for accepting the company’s invitation and for helping amplify the brand across social platforms. He capped his address with a surprise announcement that shifted the room’s curiosity. Shen announced that Tecno is poised to redefine smartphone design yet again with the upcoming launch of the Tecno Slim in October this year.

Touted as the “slimmest smartphone ever made” by any brand, the announcement of the Tecno Slim sent a fresh wave of excitement through the crowd. While details were kept tantalisingly scarce, Dickson said the device “promises a device that marries elegant, minimalist design with high-end performance,” sparking immediate speculation and conversation among attendees, particularly technology enthusiasts.
The experiential event was a clear strategic success. By transforming its flagship store into an interactive experience, Tecno moved beyond simply listing features to allowing its key influencers to feel and understand them. And by strategically unveiling the promise of the Tecno Slim, the company masterfully shifted the conversation from its present achievement to its future ambition, ensuring that all eyes will remain fixed on what they unveil next.
The Tecno Spark 40 series was unveiled in Uganda in July, challenging expectations of what affordable smartphones can deliver — combining style and strength, intelligence and endurance, all in a sleek body. The Spark 40 is priced at UGX479,000, while the Pro and Pro+ versions are priced at UGX679,000 and UGX769,000, respectively.
From the month of August to October, Tecno will be offering a special discount on the Spark 40 Pro and Spark 40 Pro+. This offer will be enjoyed by customers either in cash or on loan, and they will also stand a chance to win amazing gifts.
