Founder and CEO of Jaguza Tech, Ronald Katamba, has been honored during the 2025 Africa Day celebrations organized by Stand Out Africa at Carleton University in Canada. The recognition celebrates Katamba’s outstanding contributions to improving the livelihoods of farmers through his technology-driven livestock management innovation, Jaguza Tech.
“This award from Stand Out Africa is not only an honor, but a strong validation of the work we are doing to create sustainable agricultural systems,” said Katamba. “It reflects the dedication of our team and partners across borders, as we continue to tackle climate change, livestock health, and farmer livelihoods with innovation and heart.”
Jaguza Tech is a data-driven platform that leverages Internet of Things (IoT), artificial intelligence (AI), and mobile tools to support farmers with real-time livestock monitoring, disease detection, market access, and veterinary support. The platform is designed for scalability and accessibility, providing both high-tech tools and low-tech solutions like SMS and USSD to empower even the most remote communities.
To date, Jaguza Tech has received four prestigious international awards and three African awards for its innovation, sustainability, and impact on rural communities. These include recognitions from the Commonwealth, ITU, World AgriTech, and the World Bank, as well as top accolades from African innovation platforms focused on agriculture and climate resilience.
Jaguza is currently operating in five African countries, Uganda, Namibia, Mozambique, Fiji, and South Africa, with a growing user base of over 75,000 farmers. The company is also conducting a pilot program in the United States, particularly in Iowa and New York, aimed at adapting its livestock monitoring and management technologies to support smallholder farmers and promote food security in North America.
