On Friday, Ms. Rosemary Seninde Nansubuga officially unveiled the Tecno Camon 30 series at a launch event held at the Kampala Serena Hotel. The series available in Uganda comes in three variants with two 5G models; Camon 30 Pro (5G), Camon 30 (5G), and the base Camon 30. The company also has a Premier version, the Camon 30 Premier but was announced in the market.
In his remarks, Timmy Shen; Tecno Brand Manager said, “We’re thrilled to introduce the new Camon 30 Series, a testament to Tecno’s unwavering dedication to delivering state-of-the-art technologies for our valued users.” He added “Incorporating flagship imaging technologies and advanced AI functions, the new series reflects the bold strides Tecno is taking to explore new possibilities while pushing for more premium experiences.”
Once again the phones are headlined by their cameras and stylish design —and according to the company, the phones will empower users to take a leading role in life through professional-level imaging and exquisite, stylish design. Well, if a user prioritizes exceptional camera experiences and stylish design, the Camon 30 series delivers exactly that; camera and design.
Compared to its predecessor, the Camon 20 series, the company made changes in the build, display, memory, cameras, and charging system from 33W to 70W, and as advertised by Tecno you can charge from 0%-100% in 50 minutes.
All modes come with a 6.78-inch AMOLED display and unlike the Camon 30 Pro (5G) and Camon 30 which have a refresh rate of 120Hz, the Camon 30 Pro (5G) has a 144Hz refresh rate. Under the hood, they come with an Octa-core processor, an Android 14 operating system (with HIOS 14) — a MediaTek Dimensity 8200 Ultimate chipset for the Camon 30 Pro (5G), MediaTek Dimensity 7020 chipset for the Camon 30 (5G), and MediaTek Helio G99 Ultimate chipset for the Camon 30. Camon 30’s MediaTek Helio G99 is ideal for everyday tasks and casual gaming while the MediaTek Dimensity 8200 Ultimate and MediaTek Dimensity 7020 are ideal for demanding applications & multitasking without lags, and enable 5G connectivity for ultrafast internet speeds.
The modes also come with onboard storage of up to 512GB and 12GB of RAM which can be virtually extended to 24GB. The phones don’t support memory SD cards.
For their cameras, Tecno equipped the phones with SONY’s IMX890 sensor to be able to deliver perfect detailed shots in various lighting conditions. The Camon 30 and Camon 30 (5G) come with a dual setup with 50MP and 2MP sensors while the Pro has a trio setup with two 50MP sensors and a 2MP sensor. Unlike the Camon 30 and Camon 30 (5G) which shoot up to 1080p videos, the Pro shoots up to 4K at 30fps. At the front, all the models come with a 50MP front camera and can record videos in 1080p at 30fps.
All modes are powered by a 5,000mAh battery and support fast charging — with 70W as advertised you can charge from 0%-100% in under 50 minutes.
Notably, since the company removed the headphone jack, all the models come with Tecno’s TWS earbuds. The earbuds are water-resistant and can work for 35 hours on a single charge.
Tecno has also partnered with over 7,000+ brands and now the Camon 30 series can do more than just being a phone. With these partnerships, the phone can be used as a remote to control your TV, sound system, air conditioning, and lighting, to mention a few.
