MTN Group on Monday announced the appointment of MTN Uganda’s Chief Technical and Information Officer, Ali Monzer as the new CEO of MTN South Sudan succeeding Gordian Kyomukama, who will retire after a distinguished career with MTN.
Monzer will officially assume the role on April 1st, 2024.
In a press statement, MTN Group President and CEO, Mr. Ralph Mupita said he was pleased to have Monzer spearheading the company’s operations in South Sudan and believes Monzer will add immense value to the market
“His wealth of experience and proven track record in technology and operations make him well-positioned to drive MTN South Sudan’s continued growth and success,” said Mupita.
Extending his sincere gratitude to Gordian Kyomukama for his invaluable leadership and contributions throughout his tenure with the company, Mupita took the opportunity to thank him for displaying vigor, determination, and an exemplary work ethic in his role.”
Kyomukama has been the CEO of MTN South Sudan since 2020 a role he assumed from Lily Zondo who at the time was acting CEO of the telco. When Kyomukama took on the role, Zondo resumed her role as the Chief Financial Officer of MTN South Sudan.
Monzer has over 23 years of telecommunications industry experience. Since joining MTN in 2004, he has held progressively senior positions, most recently as Chief Technology and Information Officer of MTN Uganda. In previous roles, he has demonstrated success in operational efficiency, cost optimization, market growth, and customer experience enhancement.
