itel S13: Unboxing, Quick Review & First Impressions

Following the success of its newest handset in the P-series line; the itel P32, itel mobiles early this month launched another budget entry-level S13 flagship smartphone in Uganda. The handsets comes on – according to the company, ‘building on the selfie series legacy of delivering quality, valuable and exciting selfie experiences to consumers.’

Priced at UGX290,000, the itel S13 can now be found in all itel Mobile outlets and other authorized smartphone outlet country wide. The price best suits first time smartphone holders, as well as those on a tight budget.

Notably, itel Mobiles stuck to entry-level smartphones – and its brand is on the rise, especially in emerging markets. Meanwhile, it’s been reported that the company comes second to its sister company Tecno in importing handsets to Uganda. According to reports by Daily Monitor quoting figures from Government revenue collection agency; the Uganda Revenue Authority (URA), in the first half of 2018, Uganda imported mobile phones worth UGX125 billion part of which UGX12.5 million went to itel Mobiles.

Just like the boxing of the itel P32, inside after unwrapping the box appears another small red box that contains the handset and all its accessories. And as usual, comes the handset (in a selected color unit of your choice – at PC Tech Magazine, we received at Midnight Black unit for a 2 weeks review), a removable 2400mAh Li-lon battery, a charging brick, a pair of earphones, a USB data cable and charging chord, Warranty card, and User manuals.

Quick Review
A quick review, the itel S13 comes with a 5.5-Inch IPS Full screen display. Comes with a plastic build finish with curved corners. The flagship smartphone is powered by a Quad-core 1.3GHz processor supported by a 1GB RAM, 8GB internal storage, running on Android 8.1 (Go Edition), all backed on a 24000mAh battery. The mobile OS will smoothen the phone’s usage to give a fast experience to the user. The pre-installed apps; Google Go, YouTube Go, Google Maps Go, Gmail Go which have smaller app size, consume less space, as well as consumer less data will play a big role to optimize the performance of the phone.
