Huawei on Tuesday launched the P20 and P20 Pro flagships at an event in Paris, France. The Chinese smartphone giant also launched the Porsche Design Mate RS at the event, continuing its partnership with the luxury design house.
The Huawei Porsche Design Mate RS is nearly identical to the Huawei P20 Pro in terms of specifications, but it has some major design differences, with the most prominent being the removal of the notch on the display, and the center placement of the rear triple setup – in line with the fingerprint sensor.
Other major highlights of the smartphone is that the top variant sports 512GB of inbuilt storage, and that there is a under-display fingerprint sensor. So comes with two fingerprint sensors.
Huawei Porsche Design Mate RS specifications
The 6-inch QHD+ (1440×2880 pixels) OLED FullView display in an 18:9 display aspect ratio dual-SIM Huawei Porsche Design Mate RS runs EMUI 8.1 based on Android 8.1 Oreo. It is powered by the octa-core Huawei HiSilicon Kirin 970 SoC (four Cortex-A73 cores clocked at 2.36GHz and four Cortex-A53 cores clocked at 1.8GHz) complete with a dedicated NPU (neural processing unit). Comes with 6GB of RAM for both the 256GB and 512GB variants.
The Huawei Porsche Design Mate RS has a triple rear camera setup similar to the Huawei P20 Pro – 8MP sensor with 3x optical zoom, 40MP RGB 1/1.7-inch sensor, and 20MP monochrome sensor. (Similar camera features to the Huawei P20 Pro). On the other hand the front came also sports a 24.8MP fixed focus front camera with an f/2.0 aperture.
The Huawei Porsche Design Mate RS bears a 360-degree Face Unlock feature, said to unlock the smartphones in as little as 0.6 seconds. It also has an edgeless fingerprint support forgoing the Home button similar to the P20 Pro as well. However, the fingerprint sensor has been placed on the rear panel.
The smartphone sports the same 4,000mAh battery as the P20 Pro, with Huawei SuperCharge fast charging support.
Huawei Porsche Design Mate RS price, availability
The Huawei Porsche Design Mate RS price starts at EUROs 1,695 for the 256GB inbuilt storage variant and EUROs 2,095 for the 512GB inbuilt storage variant set to go on sale starting from April 12th in select regions. It will be available in Black and Red color variants, with the latter however exclusive to China.
