Telecommunications giant MTN Uganda has Monday morning announced yet another exciting plan to boost local soccer in the country as well as empower young talent amongst the players.

In the new move, MTN will reward outstanding KCCA FC players for every home match as will be voted by the club’s fans.

The development was announced by MTN’s Manager for Corporate Communications Val Okecho during a press conference held at the Start Times Stadium in Lugogo.

“Fans will get to vote for the best player for every home game who will walk away with a UGX 300,000 prize,” said Okecho.

In his remarks, KCCA FC Head Coach Mike Mutebi lauded MTN for their commitment to developing talent and support to local sports.

“This will encourage smaller teams to work hard and get sponsorships like this,” said Mutebi.

The announcement comes just two days after the telecom announced a UGX 390 million sponsorship deal for West Nile based top tier club Onduparaka FC.

Onduparaka joined the Uganda’s top league last season and has since had a good spell finishing among the topmost clubs.

Earlier in August, MTN announced UGX 1.29billion (Ugx430m per year) 3-year sponsorship with KCCA FC who are the Uganda Premier League defending champions.

The new developments continue to rubber stamp MTN’s commitment to developing talent and supporting sports locally.

KCCA will Tuesday take on Bright Stars FC in a game that will be played at the Star Times Stadium Lugogo.
