Opera Max for Android killed off, removed from Google Play Store

Opera is suddenly and abruptly killing off its Opera Max app. Originally launched back in 2014, the application was meant to allow users to manage and reduce data usage on Android smartphones.

Apparently, the developer wants to focus on other services and stop pouring any resources into Opera Max’s development.

“Opera has now decided to discontinue Opera Max. The product had a substantially different value proposition than our browser products, and represented a different focus for Opera. We, therefore, focus on our browsers and other upcoming services.” Read a statement on its official blog.

Those who still have Opera Max installed on their devices shouldn’t expect any new updates in the future. However, Android users will be able to continue to take advantage of what Opera Max has to offer until the developer will pull the plug on the service.
