WhatsApp Set to Rollout a Live Location Feature and a Revamped Text-Based Status for Android users

Recently, WhatsApp started rolling out Pinned Chats feature for all Android users; the new chat-pinning functionality is intended to make it easier for users to pin their favorite or important chats on the top of the conversation list. Once a conversation is pinned, it stays on the top of the list even if new messages are received. However, only a maximum of 3 can be pinned, whether individual or group chats.

According to a Twitter account that tracks tracks changes in WhatsApp’s beta builds; WaBetaInfo (@wabetainfo) revealed that the Facebook-owned messaging platform is soon rolling out new features which include live location sharing and ability to customize the text status.

For now, the features are made for only users in the WhatsApp Beta Community. Users with WhatsApp Beat version v2.27.213 brings the live location feature, which can be enabled by going to the Privacy settings and allows the users to share their live locations with their contacts. In addition enable users to keep a track of the location of their friends in real time.

One other feature was the ability to send text status updates to their contacts using the new text status option. More-so, the instant messaging app will allow users to customize their text statuses by adding background colors, emoji’s and change of fonts. To make more interesting, also be able to format the text in bold, italics and strikethrough, or even add FixedSys font.

Notably, as you recall, WhatsApp had discontinued its text-based status when they rolled out the video-based status which didn’t last even two weeks when WhatsApp users were discontented with the new WhatsApp status, which in return made the firm with no choice but to return the text-based status in a revamped way.[related-posts]
