Mountain View-based internet firm, Google Corp. according to online reports, has revealed that it’s working on a revamped layout for its video-sharing website; YouTube based on Material Design guidelines. The new website is said to be a cleaner version with flat tones and a minimalist theme.

According to the company, they are removing all visuals that could distract users from browsing or viewing video content. The new design also aligns with different Google platforms, including YouTube’s mobile app.

A new dark; built using Polymer framework – has also been shown as part of the website’s visual overhaul, and other improvements include changes to search, channel pages and theater mode sections.

The new dark theme is said to reduce the glare, letting users view true colors of the videos they watch. The theme not only makes the background Black, but removes the White color from the sidebar as well.

“Starting today, we’re opening up a preview of the new design to a small group of people from all around the world so we can get feedback. While we hope you’ll love what we’ve been working on, we’re also really excited to involve the YouTube community so we can make the site even better before sharing it more broadly,” said Brian Marquardt, product manager, YouTube.

Editor’s Note: Unfortunately, you won’t be able to view the new website now as the company has closed the opt-in preview.[related-posts]
