Seedstars World Adds Six More African Countries to This Year’s Seedstars Tour Edition

Global seed-stage startups competition Seedstars World, according to reports by Disrupt-Africa, the 2017 edition of the Seedstars World Tour will visit more than 25 cities (previously was 20 cities) across all the regions of Africa, with new countries such as Cameroon, the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Mauritius, Madagascar, Sudan and Zambia added to its tour.

The winner from each country is invited to the final at the Seedstars Global Summit in Switzerland to compete for up to US$500,000 in equity investment. Last year saw South Africa’s Giraffe; an for innovative solution to reduce unemployment in the emerging markets – winning the 2016 Global Award while this year was a Filipino startup take home the 2017 Global award; for their innovative solution that turns SMEs invoices into cash through discounting of their receivables, providing them with necessary working capital they are not getting from the banks.

This year’s tour kicks off on May 26th in Johannesburg, South Africa and will come to Kampala, Uganda on August 1st, 2017 and will be held at the tech and incubation hub; Outbox Hub Uganda.

Winning startups from each country will also be invited to represent their country at the Regional Summit in Africa later this year. Applications are open effective tomorrow.
