According to JUMO, they gained more than 100 new staff members last year and has plans to double its staff complement in this year. The company boasts a strong line-up of talent including ex-Magento CTO Ted Pietrzak who joined the company in January last year as VP Engineering marking the first American platform level CTO to be recruited by an African company.
The company’s dramatic expansion has taken another step-up with the appointment of ex-Barclays Africa Managing Principal; Warren Squires who took on as the new Director of MTN Channel, effective January 9th, 2017.
“Balancing our technology capability with the experience of people like Warren is really powerful,” CEO and Founder at JUMO; Andrew Watkins-Ball, said in a press statement.
Warren has previously had banking positions in Credit Suisse, and Barclays Capital in London and Hong Kong; Renaissance Capital and Barclays in South Africa as Chief Operating Officer for Africa and most recently as Chief Investment Officer for Barclays Africa Seeker fund – a fund setup to invest in early stage companies.
“JUMO made a big impact in 2016 with effecting a step-change in digital financial services delivery. Their platform is a game-changer for financial services and I am looking forward to contributing to the company’s vision,” Warren said.
Warren will lead JUMO’s strategic partnership with MTN in Africa.
