Samsung Galaxy S23, Galaxy S23+, and Galaxy S23 Ultra Launched

Samsung held its first Galaxy Unpacked Event since the pandemic launching its anticipated Samsung Galaxy S23 series smartphones.

Samsung held its first Galaxy Unpacked Event in front of an audience in San Francisco on Wednesday, Feb. 1st, marking it as—the first in-person Galaxy Unpacked for the company since the pandemic  The electronics company was launching its anticipated Samsung Galaxy S23 series the latest refinement of long-running the S-series formula—and also unveiled five new laptops all badged Galaxy Book3.

Samsung unveiled the Samsung Galaxy S23, Galaxy S23+, and Galaxy S23 Ultra coming with improved major hardware and software features, but there are no radical changes. The new phones followed closely in the footsteps of the S22 series —looking nearly identical to the predecessor.

The S23 remains the smallest of the bunch with a 6.1-inch AMOLED screen. The S23+ comes in the middle with a 6.6-inch screen. The S23 Ultra’s 6.8-inch screen size is massive, but one positive change is that Samsung has reduced the curvature of the glass edges around the screen.

One of The biggest upgrades is that all S23 phones are powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 for Galaxy which is the latest flagship chipset. According to Wired, Samsung says it indicates improved clock speeds, with the ability to hit 3.3 GHz (a 0.1-GHz bump from the base Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset) with the primary core —essentially means it’s slightly faster than the standard current Snapdragon chip.

All three phones run on Android 13 with One UI 5.1 on top. They will receive four Android OS upgrades and will get monthly security updates for five years. In addition, the phones feature support for Samsung Knox security and Knox Vault.

Samsung Galaxy S23 specifications

The Samsung Galaxy S23 comes with IP68-rated dust & water-resistant build and has a 6.1-inch full-HD+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X display with up to 120Hz refresh rate that can drop to 48Hz. Has a triple rear camera setup, comprising a 50MP primary wide-angle sensor, a 12MP ultra-wide angle camera, and a 10MP telephoto camera. On the front, it sports a 12MP selfie camera.

Connectivity options include 5G, 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.3, Wi-Fi direct, and a USB Type-C port.

Samsung has equipped the Galaxy S23 with a 3,900mAh battery that supports 25W wired charging and 15W wireless charging which is said to be capable of charging the battery up to 50 percent in 30 minutes. It also comes with Wireless PowerShare for charging other devices that have wireless charging support.

Samsung Galaxy S23+ specifications 

The Samsung Galaxy S23+ has plenty of similarities with the Galaxy S23 including a full-HD+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X display, refresh rate, IP68-rated dust & water-resistant build, cameras-both the rear & the front, and connectivity options.

It features a 6.6-inch display. Samsung has equipped up to 512GB onboard storage on the Galaxy S23+.

The Galaxy S23+ packs a 4,700mAh battery that supports 45W wired charging that’s said to deliver up to 65 percent charge in 30 minutes. It supports Fast Wireless Charging 2.0 which offers 15W charging speeds and Wireless PowerShare support for reverse wireless charging.

Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra specifications

Similar to last year’s lineup, Galaxy S23 Ultra is the most premium smartphone and features a 6.8-inch Edge QHD+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X Display that has a dynamic refresh rate of 1–120Hz and a touch sampling rate of 240Hz in Game Mode. Like the S23 and S23+ models, the phone is powered by a custom version of Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC, along with up to 12GB of RAM.

The Galaxy S23 Ultra with its IP68 rating for dust and water resistance build comes with a quad rear camera setup, led by a 200MP primary wide camera, 12MP ultra-wide, a 10MP telephoto, and another 10MP telephoto shooter. In the front is a 12MP camera.

The Galaxy S23 Ultra offers up to 1TB of onboard storage. Offers the same connectivity options as the S23 and S23+. Samsung has also bundled the S Pen stylus with the handset.

It is backed by a 5,000mAh battery that supports 45W wired charging and Fast Wireless Charging 2.0 which offers 15W charging speeds claimed to fill the battery 65 percent in 20 minutes. It also offers Wireless PowerShare for charging other wireless charging-supported devices.

Price, Availability, and Color

The Samsung Galaxy S23 is priced at $800 for the base 8GB/128GB variant. Meanwhile, Samsung Galaxy S23+ pricing starts at $1,000 for the 8GB/256GB option. The Ultra starts at $1,200 for the base 8GB/256GB storage variant.

The smartphones are available for preorder and will go on sale starting from Feb. 17th.

The handsets are available in the traditional Phantom Black, Cream, Green, and Lavender, though Samsung has exclusive online-only colors too (Lime, Graphite, Sky Blue, and Red).
