Yesterday,Intel and Airtel Kenya unveiled a partnership under which they launched Intel’s Mobile Caravan.
The mobile caravan will provide ICT training to communities in Kenya’s peri-urban and rural areas, with Airtel being the connectivity partner.
Intel Mobile Caravan’s main target will be women, teachers and pupils, and will provide free ICT training in collaboration with key partners in four counties in its pilot phase.
Over 30 Intel laptops and 4 BRCK KIO kits are to be used on the caravan.
Other key partners in the initiative include the Kenya Institute of Curriculum development (KICD), JoyWo (Joyful Women Organisation), the Global Peace Foundation, and the Chandaria Foundation, which provides partial funding for the program.
The program has so far impacted over 150, 000 women in Kenya, Nigeria and South Africa through face to face training.
