The Appsafrica Innovation Awards recognize innovation and excellence in African mobile and technology supported by Mobile Monday South Africa, the Mobile Ecosystem Forum (MEF), Uber and the Mobile Marketing Association. The Awards provide winners with global publicity across multiple channels, recognition and networking with over 500 industry peers and investors.
Appsafrica will hold their second annual award ceremony where winners will be announced at the awards party on November 14th, 2016 in Cape Town, South Africa. This year’s winners will join the previous (2015) winners who were chosen from over 200 entries across 21 countries.
Last year’s entries were received from very diverse sectors such as entertainment, agriculture, transport and market research. Health, education and fintech were very popular categories also, all illustrating the explosive growth of Africa’s mobile first markets and tech ecosystem.

Applicants who wish to apply in the categories below will be charged $60 (roughly 203,000 UGX) per category that is entered. However, Start-ups who are less than 12 months old will not be charged subject to approval and can contact us for a discount code.

Mobile news and entertainment is now a burgeoning industry across Africa. This award seeks to recognize the best news and entertainment innovations. Examples include music, literary, gaming, children’s entertainment, lifestyle and video.
Educational Award
Delivering education has many challenges in Africa. This award recognizes services which are striving to improve education by utilizing mobile or other technologies.
FinTech Award
This award recognizes the best FinTech innovation including digital currency, bitcoin, mobile money, wallets, P2P, money remittances & transfers, point of sale or funding platforms.
Social Impact Award Africa
This award recognizes an inspiring use of technology that has a positive social impact for an African community while contributing to economic and social development.
