Father’s day is celebrated worldwide to recognize the contribution that fathers and father figures make to the lives of their children. On Sunday, social media will be flooded with sweet messages for fathers but please do not update every social media platform you have got with those messages and forget to actually appreciate your father with a gift. Not cool at all!
Most of us on this day, we usually give the same sort of predictable gifts such a good pair of socks, a shirt ,trouser, coffee mug with the words ‘Best dad” or “I love you dad”, a tie, or a good pair of shoes. Well it doesn’t have to the same routine of gifts. Thanks to us we have put together a list of suggestions that we are sure will help you give a unique gift to your father.
A smartphone
It’s about time you get your papa a smartphone and introduce him to the smart world. We are sure you have heard of the MTN Smart series campaign which promotes adaptation of data usage with the use of a series of affordable smartphones. The four series include the MTN Smart Buzz which goes for shs 70,000, the MTN Smart Mini which costs shs 95,000, the MTN Smart Mega (Single SIM) which sells at shs 120,000 and the MTN Smart Mega (Dual SIM) which goes for shs 130,000.
These phones are at lower end price and offer affordable 2G and 3G connectivity. Check them out and more on the MTN Shop on Kaymu. So the old man can take, share, and enjoy pictures or videos of family and stay informed with the latest activities with internet access and social media.
An Uber ride
Now that Uber has launched in Uganda, why not take your father to experience this ride with you. Let him download the app on his phone so that he has firsthand experience. Considering the fact that there is less traffic on Sundays in Kampala he will surely enjoy the ride and the experience.
Laundry subscription with YOZA
How about you subscribe for laundry with YOZA for the entire family and give papa an experience of using the “Uber for dirty laundry” too. You can subscribe for just shs 240,000 and get 3 months of laundry, ironing & folding and house cleaning. This can also save mama from having to do their laundry, so it’s a win-win, yes?
A weekend getaway
You don’t necessarily have to travel miles and miles away from Uganda to experience breathtaking views when we have them in our motherland. This Father’s day, you could arrange for a trip to lake Bunyonyi in Kabale District Western Uganda. This is a perfect getaway to the natural wonders of this beautiful Crater Lake, one of the deepest in Africa, nestled between beautiful terraced hills glassy still waters and a home to crayfish.
