The Huawei Y330 - U11.

A few weeks ago I picked up a catalog from an MTN  service center while i waited for my sim card to be replaced. As is the norm, I flipped through the pages of the catalog absent-mindedly until I heard my queue number being called over the intercom (they do that at the uptown service centers :-) ). One fateful morning last week found me staring intently at this catalog &  I indeed found a mobile phone which somewhat fit the profile of what I needed. Something decent, able to deliver my emails and messages and perform some basic tasks without losing an arm or leg while at it! I got thinking seriously about it and eventually made my way to the bank.

I might have appeared very calm when I made the payment, picked up the package and walked out of the store without even looking inside the bag, but I couldn’t wait to open it once I was home. When I got home I couldn’t wait to open the box.

huawei3The contents of the box were pretty standard:

  • Huawei Y330-U11
  • Stereo Earphones
  • MicroUSB cable
  • Charger
  • Quick start user guide

When I got the phone out of the box, I liked what I saw and felt. It was shiny black, sleek looking, kind of even looking better than I expected after looking at photos online, especially given that it doesn’t cost too much!

It feels good in the hand and isn’t too heavy, it felt just right. Don’t get me wrong, it’s definitely not anywhere flagship device feel, but in context, it looks and feels perfect.

The Huawei Y330-U11 Dual SIM has a 1.3GHZ Dual Core processor, weighing 126g with a 4 Inch Screen, 1500mAh Battery and supports up to 21.6 Mbps  3G. The company launched the phone in March, 2014 and it only cost me an approximate sum of $54 coming to a round Ugx 185,000/- figure at the MTN Uganda store.

5 things to love about the Huawei Y330

Everyone has particular reasons why they love something. The Huawei Y330-U11 is a very basic but equally awesome smartphone and here’s why I love it and probably why you need one yourself.

Battery Life
It’s battery isn’t the absolute best you’ll find on the market however, it has never gone flat on me at any one point of time. The battery can last up to 3 days after charging with minimal internet activity. If you need to Whatsapp or frequently text message a few friends or even play Candy crush saga, it will still push you for a few more days till you can charge again.

Supports a 3G network

I get that 4G network connectivity is the talk around town, however, not that many phones can support this connection.  With the Huawei Y3300-U11 I’m able to get the best 3G connection from just about any part of town. The connection is also very swift & almost seamless.

User interface design
Why buy a phone with a poor UI design or even a complex one! We are talking about designs that will give you a hard time navigating your menu & basic phone functions. This UI is something to love about the Huawei Y330-U11. It’s so simple, precise, painless and who wouldn’t get this! It has got two modes so that you can even change the flavor of the UI depending on your personal preference.

Screen Brightness and Resolution
The screen of the Huawei Y330-U11 is a clear, crisp screen view, within the limitations of an LCD screen. It is a pleasure to look at. It is extremely easy on the eyes and has an adjustable brightness control that automatically brightness and dims depending on ambient light.

The Huawei Y330-U11 is value for money. You get a dual-sim smartphone with an easy design and made-to-fit your hand build. With a battery as powerful as this one & an almost deceptive sleek black body, you’ll definitely find the functionality you demand from a new age smartphone in it

This industrially-beautiful smartphone (sold in black only) stands out with its intellectual design. By now, there’s no denying it. Huawei is able to play on the same level with other established industry tech brands such as HTC, Samsung, Nokia, Blackberry.
