Technology Authority-Uganda and Government of the Republic of South Korea through Korean Internet and Security Agency (KISA) have signed a memorandum of understanding in which KISA will help Uganda implement policies for managing information security.
NITA’s Executive Director James Saaka told journalists in Kampala on July 18 that the cooperation of the two countries will involve the exchange of technical expertise, experience and information in relation to the development and implementation of the National Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT), Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) to support secure electronic transactions, and various aspects of Information Security.

He said KISA will contribute to the development and implementation of the National CERT and Information Security for the Republic of Uganda by encouraging NITA-U to utilize the technology, experience and information which has been gained through implementation of the Korea CERT. The MoU is also seen as one way of strengthening international relations among the two countries.
The number of internet users in Uganda is growing at a terrific speed and, according to Saaka information on this channel has to be monitored to avoid dangers that may come along.
