Zimbabwe’s NetOne To Offer Data Roaming Services

The Financial Gazette reports that Zimbabwean mobile network services operator, NetOne, hasentered into an agreement with Belgian company Belgacom in order to roll out data roaming services. According to the report the expansion of roaming services by NetOne is being funded by a US$45 million facility received from Huawei Technologies.

NetOne’s MD, Reward Kangai, is quoted as saying the development would enable visitors to the country to make use of data roaming services on the network.

“In light of the United Nations World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO) being co-hosted betweenZimbabweandZambiain August 2013, NetOne is rolling out such services to enable our international delegates to enjoy data roaming services,” reports the Financial Gazette.

Kangai also referred to the company’s ongoing drive of 3G services coverage for the country, as well as focus on an increase in broadband services.

The report states that base stations have been set up in a number of key regions including Masvingo, Hanyanya in Bikita, Zvishavane, Ruwa, Chitungwiza and parts of Harare in Mbare, Kuwadzana, Mabvuku, Tafara, Glen View and Graniteside.
