MTN further cut tariffs

MTN Uganda today re-aligned their tariffs to provide a Ushs3 per second charge on the MTN Network. MTN Chief Executive Officer Themba Khumalo said today that the re-alignment of the tariffs was in response to customer requests for a simplified tariff structure. “We have just concluded the Customer Service Week during which we had the opportunity to get first hand feedback from our Customers. We believe we have come up with tariff plan that addresses their concerns and enhances the MTN Customer Experience,” he said.

“Since we announced a promotional tariff on September 27, 2010 as part of our six-month celebration of twelve years of MTN operations in Uganda, we have been gathering feedback from our customers. They asked for a simpler offering, and here it is,” he added.

MTN Customers on the per second tariff plan will pay Ushs3 per second to call over six million subscribers on the MTN network. Calls to other networks will be at Ushs5 per second.

MTN Customers on the per minute tariff plan will now make calls at Ushs180 per minute on the MTN Network, and Ushs240 per minute on calls outside of MTN.

Given that over 70% of calls made in Uganda are to an MTN customer, the above changes in addition to the very popular MTN Zone on which customers get the opportunity to call for as low as less 1/- per second offers MTN Customers great value for money.

“With products and services such as MTN Mobile Money fast speed internet, and superior network coverage, we believe that our value proposition offers far better value ,” Khumalo added.
