Uganda is fast becoming an attractive market for Information Technology Companies keen to tap into the landlocked country’s budding communication’s technology market.
This is according to Tom Abuya, Uganda Country Manager for Internet Solutions Limited, who said that the company had identified growth opportunities in the deployment of innovative communications solutions driven by cloud technologies.
Speaking at a client breakfast event where the firm announced a slew of solutions targeting the enterprise and government sector in Uganda, Abuya said the firm intends to become a leading player in the Managed Services segment.
“We have embarked on educating the market on our services portfolio with very positive response. Over the next two years we are looking at turning our Cloud Back-Up, IT Security Services, Disaster Recovery and Data Center business into the foremost offerings in Uganda”, he said.
The Company that set up office in Uganda in October 2014 says that currently it is focused on building capacity to offer in-country support for global clients who include players in the financial, logistics, manufacturing and nonprofit sectors among others.
Abuya further noted that Uganda just like her peers in the East African Community lacked sufficiently trained and skilled ICT personnel, an issue that has contributed to the slow pace of technological innovation and adoption in the region.
“Uganda’s ICT sector has a gap in technical capabilities, network availability and service adaptation. We are therefore working with our clients to enhance the level of professional exposure while deploying best-in-class services that you can find in any of the Internet Solutions offices globally”, explained Abuya
Speaking at the event, Kris Senanu, Internet Solutions Deputy Chief Executive for East Africa said the firm was keen to move away from competing on connectivity services only but to add value to clients’ businesses by offering layered solutions aimed at supporting growth.
“Businesses are now looking for seamless integration of technologies such as backup from the LAN, WAN and Disaster Recovery services. From our studies we know that the top three ICT solutions demanded by our clients are Connectivity, Backup Solutions and Voice Communications, all of which we can deliver to the highest levels of client satisfaction”, Said Senanu.
