Sony’s PS4 sales hit 10 million

PlayStation 4Sony’s sales for the Playstation 4 video game consoles have exceeded 10 million, since november when it went on sale.

This has made the company topull ahead of Microsoft’s Xbox One, which is estimated to have sold less than seven million consoles.

The console went on sale on November 29 in the United States, Western Europe and Latin America, around the same time that rival Microsoft’s Xbox One was released.

That console topped three million units in sales as of the end of last year. Microsoft said in April it had shipped five million Xbox One units to retailers worldwide since the launch. Microsoft recently revealed that the Xbox One has made a loss of €300m since its launch, due to marketing and sales costs.

The PS4 system’s unique gameplay experiences powered by the network, along with its vast game portfolio, has been phenomenal and I am absolutely delighted that PS4 was able to reach this commemorative milestone in less than nine months,” said Andrew House, chief executive of Sony Computer Entertainment.
