SanDisk Fastest 256GB Cards Launched

Western Digital Brand SanDisk Corp. on Wednesday launched two of its new 256GB microSD cards, with one, “256GB SanDisk Extreme microSDXC UHS-1” it claims is the fastest in its class. The company alongside also launched the “256GB SanDisk Ultra microSDXC UHS-1 Premium Edition“, which is only slightly slower.

Both cards will be available globally, SanDisk said, with the faster Extreme version priced at $200 (roughly 681,000 ugx) while the Ultra version priced at $150 (roughly 510,800 ugx).

According to the company, the Extreme microSDXC UHS-1 card offers a transfer speeds of up to 100MB/s and write speeds of up to 90MB/s, estimated to store up to 14 hours of 4K footage from smartphones or any other camera while the Ultra microSDXC UHS-I card offers a transfer speeds of up to 95MB/s (the company has not provided write speeds).

One of the interesting feature about the card is – waterproof as well as temperature-proof, shock proof, and X-ray proof, the California-based corporation confirms. 

According to some sources, the Extreme microSDXC UHS-1 card will be available in the fouth-quarter (October, November and December) 2016, while the Ultra microSDXC UHS-I card available in August.
