SA: Last chance to enter the 2015 MTN Business App of the Year Awards
South Africa’s best and brightest app developers have less than a week to submit their apps to the MTN Business App of the Year Awards. Entries close on 3 July 2015.
The MTN Business App of the Year Awards is the premiere app awards event in South Africa offering prizes, media coverage, prestige, networking and industry recognition. Previous winners have reported significant benefit from revenue stream boosts after being named among the top apps in South Africa.
Previous winners have impacted a variety of industries with breakthrough products such as SnapScan and LiveInspect. But, it is not only corporates that have benefitted from being MTN Business App of the Year winners. Last year ‘Rea Vaya’ was the winner of the Garage Developer category at the MTN Business App of the Year Awards. Rea Vaya was developed by Griffiths Sibeko – initially for his own purposes, navigating the convoluted BRT bus timetables. Since winning, Griffiths and a friend have registered their company, Graphic Intentions – an SME that hopes to take a bite of the market for app development, conceptual designs, and website development. Griffiths is a full time app developer now working with other previous category winner Zapper.
Griffiths says he would definitely recommend the MTN Business App of the Year Awards to other garage developers. His message for them is, “Never doubt yourself. Even though you are competing with the big guys, with multinational companies, anyone has the ability to win. You have the ability to go wherever you put your mind to!”
MTN Uganda in May organized an app challenge for local innovators to create mobile applications covering areas of business, finance, health and entertainment.
