Innovator Ronald Katamba to Represent Uganda at CommonWealth ICT Applications Forum
Uganda’s multi award winning innovator, Ronald Katamba is set to represent the country at the Commonwealth ICT Applications forum 2017, slated to take place from 15th to 16th February in Kigali, Rwanda.
Katamba, who is also the Director of Kampala based Afrosoft ICT solutions is expected to make a presentation about his livestock management app, Jaguza which emerged the best in e-Agriculture category at the Commonwealth Youth ICT Competition in 2016.
The Forum, according to organizers will focus on promoting ICT entrepreneurship to ensure that the many inspiring stories of ICT application developers are told and heard throughout the world.
It is aimed at promoting ICT applications, primarily those in developing countries, with a view to leveraging their potential contribution to socio-economic development. Through the event, novel applications will be showcase and entrepreneurs assisted to find support and new markets.
“The event will be highly interactive, showcasing applications and presenting practical lessons to assist App developers to find support and new markets. It will also examine issues such as how to foster innovation through policy and regulation and how to develop a local App industry which can be expanded globally,” read part of the statement from the forum organizers.

The forum will be hosted by the Ministry of youths and ICT in the government of Rwanda and will be running under the theme “Promoting ICT Entrepreneurship.”
The event will provide an opportunity for policymakers to better understand the apps ecosystem and also provide means for app developers to reach out beyond their home countries.
It will feature two winners of the CTO’s Commonwealth Youth ICT Applications 2016 competition including Uganda’s Jaguza Livestock App, designed to help farmers monitor their livestock, and Cameroon’s Giftedmom, a health app aimed at assisting pregnant women.
