African Startups Called to Apply For the 4th Annual AppsAfrica Innovation Awards

The AppsAfrica Innovation Awards, that aims to showcase Africa’s most innovative ventures has called upon all African Startups to all for their 4th annual AppsAfrica Innovation Awards. The platform provides winners with industry recognition, global publicity, and networking opportunities.

The awards are open to all; corporate’s, established ventures or startups. The awards have 10 different categories – Disruptive Innovation Award, Best Social & Messaging Award, Best African App Award, Enterprise Solution Award, News & Entertainment Award, Educational Award, Fintech Award, Social Impact Award, Brand On Mobile Award, and Women In Tech Award.

The awards ceremony will be held in Cape Town, South Africa on November 12th, 2018. Applicants can submit (FOLLOW LINK) before September 7th, and their submissions will be assessed by a panel of expert judges. Shortlisted finalists will be announced later in October.

Winners will be invited to the 3rd annual Africa Tech Summit; a summit that seeks innovative and disruptive solutions to the major challenges facing African countries, which include energy access, water, food insecurity, health systems, and governance – in Kigali, Rwanda next year.

It’s worth to know that Uganda’s Ask without Shame innovation participated in the 2016 awards, winning the Social Impact Award. The award recognizes an inspiring use of technology that has a positive social impact for an African community while contributing to economic and social development.

Ask Without Shame is an NGO with their android application that aims to answer all reproductive sexual health questions from teens as well as young adults anonymously without judgment. The company calims its provides accurate information about sex to its users.

Recently, the company’s Founder and CEO; Ruth Nabembezi was presented with the Queen Young Leader’s Award by Her Majesty the Queen of England; Elizabeth II. The Queen’s Young Leader Award is an annual award given in recognition of leadership skills by young persons between the ages of 18 and 29. The award is open to selected Commonwealth of Nations to recognize exceptional people or organizations who are making a difference in improving other citizen’s lives.
