Facebook Messenger Rolls Out Group Calls Of Up To 50 Members

David A. Marcus, VP of Messaging Products at Facebook Inc. yesterday announced via his Facebook Page that the company has began the global roll out for group calling support for Android and iOS devices for it’s Messenger app.

According to David, if you have the latest version of Messenger, you should see the phone icon appear in group conversations within the next 24 hours.

However, the group calls feature is currently limited to only 50 members. All the app users will start seeing the phone icon on top of a group chat. Tapping the phone icon will let the user select which of their friends in the group will participate in the call. Once a user has joined a group call, they will be able to see who’s participating and even invite others to join.

Venture Beat reported saying that the group calling experience on Messenger app will be similar to that of a one-on-one call. In this case however, the screen will show the group’s name and the list of members who are ‘In Call’ as well as currently ‘Not in Call’.

Venture Beat continues to say that the app users will have the option to receive, ignore, or decline a group call.[related-posts]
