Invitation: African startups welcomed to Global Health Innovation Network

Innovations in Healthcare, a non-profit organisation hosted by Duke University and founded by Duke Medicine, McKinsey and the World Economic Forum (WEF), is inviting African startups to apply to join its innovator network.

Applications are open until August 14 to join the Innovations in Healthcare network of healthcare delivery innovators, which is currently comprised of 55 individuals in 47 countries. These innovators have an average of US$1.6 million each in annual revenue.

Each year, the organisation identifies and recruits more entrepreneurs with promising models of healthcare, helping connect these innovators with the necessary opportunities, information and contacts to scale up their work.

Innovations in Healthcare also hosts and attends meetings where it highlights the work of its innovators, while the organisation’s annual forum is an intensive two-day gathering where innovators and leaders in the social, private, and public sector gather to collaborate and exchange ideas and insights.

To be considered, health innovators must address critical health needs and provide significant improvements in cost, quality or access to health services. Projects must be ready to scale and be past the pilot stage, while also having financially sustainable business models or at least a serious commitment to becoming sustainable. They can be non-profit or for-profit.

Once selected, innovators benefit from connections to potential strategic partners and funders, access to business support and learning forums, and promotion opportunities at global events and in the media.
