Facebook’s Messenger Lite Expands To More 150 Countries – Uganda Inclusive

If you have noticed, if you’re using the Facebook app and you don’t have the Messenger app installed too, you can’t/won’t be in position to send messages. So all you need is to download the Messenger app to your phone and start messaging your friends.

However, the messenger app is kinda bigger/larger (in terms of size), and some smartphones can’t be in position to handle it in terms of performance, updates, to mention a few. That’s where the Messenger Lite app comes in which was launched last year in October and caters to users that utilize smartphones with low processing power, memory, and bandwidth.

After the launch of the app last year, it was limited to few countries. Well! on Thursday Facebook in post published by the Head of Messenger at Facebook; David Marcus, announced the global expansion of the of Lite app coming to addition 150 countries. While David in his post said it were 150 more additional countries, according to TechCrunch reports that figure is actually 132 more countries.

“If you have an older phone that doesn’t have a lot of memory, or has limited processing power, and you want the benefit of messaging quickly with any of the 1.2+ billion people using Messenger every month, give Lite a try!,” Marcus notes.

Notably, the Menlo Park-based social networking firm, early in February announced how their Facebook Lite app hit a milestone of 200 million users while on the other hand, their photo & video sharing app Instagram also recently announced it now has 200 million daily active users, surpassing SnapChat for the first time with 39 million users less. And more updates coming to it messaging app, WhatsApp.

The app listing on Google Play confirms the app is available for download to users in Uganda.

Of recent, according to a Research that was carried out by app analytics firm Sensor Tower revealed that four out of the five (4/5) most downloaded apps worldwide belong to Facebook .i.e. WhatsApp, Facebook, Messenger, Instagram. The research was carried out across different App Stores to prove if Facebook apps took four out of five places as the most downloaded apps worldwide, and it turned out to be right.[related-posts]
