Uber announces collaboration with BBM Messenger for ride booking

Uber announced a collaboration with BBM Messenger to enable users to book their desired ride from within the chat app inside the “discover” menu.

The agreement means that BBM Messenger users, including both Android and iOS users, can book an Uber ride without leaving the BBM app, or being required to have a stand-alone Uber app on their phone, the company said.

This new feature would not be closing any gaps, but it a logical move by BBM as it needs to compete to survive in the thriving messaging apps industry. BBM witnessed its market shrinkage with the advent of the WhatsApp, Messenger and other such chat applications.
